Josey Melody (Jenkins) Gothard, age 49, passed away on May 31, 2025, at her home in Edmond, Oklahoma. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church, with Reverend Royce McClendon officiating. Interment will follow at Newport Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Born on December 28, 1975, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Josey was the daughter of Mr. Richard Darnell Jenkins and Mrs. Patricia Ann (Savage) Jenkins. She graduated from Minco High School in 1995 before attending Redlands Community College in El Reno for a brief period. Josey dedicated 24 years of her career to Walmart and spent the last five years working as the billing coordinator at Loves Corporate office in Oklahoma City.
On October 2, 2004, Josey married the love of her life, Dennis, at Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church in Lone Grove. Together, they created a loving home in Edmond, cherished by their canine companion, Abbie. Josey found joy in traveling—especially during cruises—and enjoyed shopping for the latest fashion trends. She was known for her caring nature, always ready to assist her family and organize trips with thoughtful preparations.
Josey is preceded in death by her father, Richard Jenkins, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of the home; her mother, Patricia Jenkins of Minco; siblings Tina Kurtenbach and husband Dan of Denison, Cindy Belt and husband Jimmy of Yukon, Jessica Haynes and husband Johnny of Yukon, and Roddy Jenkins and wife Ashley of Minco; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends.
Pallbearers will include Emmett Jenkins, Chris DeLong, Austin Jenkins, D.J. Kurtenbach, Josh Kurtenbach, Owen Jenkins, and Devin DeLong. Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Belt, Johnny Haynes, and Roddy Jenkins.
Visitation will be hosted on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church Mission Fund, 2051 Jehovah Rd, Ardmore, OK 73401.
