Kenneth Lee Mitchell was born on September 10th, 1946, to Olan and Ione (Tommy) Mitchell and gained his wings on December 3, 2025, after a brief illness.

Kenny lived a happy life growing up with his older siblings and attending First Methodist Church of Wilson. As the baby of the family-his stories were always about how they picked on him, like sending him under the house for the last watermelon and then locking him under there. Of course, their rendition was it was always in good fun. He attended Wilson schools and graduated with the Wilson Eagles class of 1964. After trying the college life, he decided that wasn’t for him and returned home. After briefly living in Wilson, he began the next phase of life by beginning a job with the United States Postal Service and buying a brand new home in Healdton. A home where he lived until his death. his job for the postal service was very important to him and showed in the numerous awards he achieved. These included a 45-year pin and the 1 million mile award.

Kenny was a very private person—but loved his family. You would always find him at any family gathering and usually with a camera in his hand. There was only one thing he loved almost as much as family and that was the Dallas Cowboys. No matter their record he proudly wore the Cowboy star. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a brother Bill Mitchell; two sisters Etta Jo Mitchell and Caroly Mitchell Cox; nephew James Olan Thorne; niece Michelle Isbell; great nephew Matthew Alexander.

He is survived by sister Olene Mitchell Thorne; nieces Cathy Cox Alexander, and Cindy Cox Brannan; nephew Andy Thorne; many other great and great great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Andy Thorne, Jot Thorne, Bobby Alexander, Maverick Alexander, Justin Ramer, and Jessy Ramer.
