Wilson - Graveside services for Kyle Andrew O’Dell, 47, of Lone Grove, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson with Jeff Jones officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Kyle passed away May 14, 2026 after a prolonged illness. Kyle was born in Ardmore, OK May 16, 1978 to John O'Dell and Marlene O'Dell (née Richardson). Kyle was raised in Wilson and completed most of his schooling there where he excelled in football. He still holds the single season rushing record at Wilson for the 1993 season, helping lead the team to the round of eight in the state playoffs. He was extraordinarily strong in his youth and at 15, after learning of the NFL combine test for consecutive bench press reps with 225 lbs., completed 28. Kyle was a 1996 graduate of Lone Grove high school and attended college at ECU and UCO.

Kyle enjoyed a simple life, caring for his yard, garden and cats. Kyle had a good sense of humor and spent time hiking, fishing, watching movies and playing video games.

Kyle was preceded in death by his father John O'Dell, step-mother Laurie Sue O'Dell (née Pope). He is survived by his brother David O'Dell and wife Sijy (Silver Spring, MD), mother Marlene Steele (Moore, OK), step-mother Maire O'Dell, who cared for him deeply, aunt Cynthia Powers, Uncles Jim O’Dell, Sam O’Dell and Jerry Richardson, special cousin Celia Roberts (Houston) and a large number of additional extended family members.
