Funeral Services for Larry Eugene Atchley, Sr. are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 10, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Lone Grove with Rev. Bill Black officiating. Interment will follow to Keller Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Larry Eugene Atchley Sr was born September 26, 1947, in Sayre, Oklahoma. He departed from this life on November 4, 2025 in Grapevine, TX. He was raised in Midwest City, Oklahoma and spent many Summers in Sweetwater, Oklahoma on his Uncle Y C Fuch's cattle ranch. He graduated from Carl Albert High School in 1965 and later attended classes at the University of Oklahoma. He married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Charleen Cosper on December 21st, 1965 and they were married for over 50 years until her passing in 2019. He loved spending time with his family, and his dogs, and raising cattle at Rough Creek Ranch in his retirement. Before he bought the ranch, he enjoyed boating on various lakes in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. He was also a self-professed workaholic and frequent business traveler during his long, successful career in the metal building industry. He was generous to his family, friends, and community, especially in times of need.
He was also very active in his community of Grapevine, Texas serving with the Parks and Recreation Department, Planning and Zoning, AMBUCS, and the Kiwanis Club. He was also a much loved and respected member of First Baptist Church Lone Grove.
He is survived by his daughter Cody Chantealle Atchley, son (Gene) Larry Eugene Atchley Jr, and his wife Alison Elise Atchley, brother Roger Paul Atchley and his wife Doris Jean Bickford Atchley, and their sons Chad Ryan Atchley and Clay Cameron Atchley, sister Gayla Ann Atchley Morsman, her son Dorman Jenry Morsman and her daughter Elizabeth Ann Morsman Lawyer, sister-in-law Pamela Kaye Cosper Humphreys, her husband Del Charles Humphreys, and son Zachary Charles Humphreys, granddaughter Alina Victoria Atchley Bennett, and step-granddaughter Leila Elise Robinson, and his aunts Sue Atchley Keathley, Wilma Ruth Smith, Crystal Donnaleta Fuchs, Ann Glenn, Voncille Gibson.
A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
