Larry Dean Seawright

Graveside service for Larry Dean Seawright, 65, of Troy, is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 5, 2026, at Troy Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Larry was born July 12, 1961, at Tishomingo to the late Mr. Jack Seawright and Mrs. Elsie (Keel) Seawright. He departed this life, September 26, 2026, at his home in Wilson.

Larry was raised in Troy and attended school at Millcreek, where he graduated in 1979 as valedictorian of his class. During his school years, he developed a love for baseball and basketball, and that enjoyment of athletics continued later in life when he played softball with the Millcreek Chiefs softball team. Larry continued his education at East Central University, graduating in 1983 with a degree in cartography. He also served in the Army National Guard, following in the footsteps of family members and Chickasaw warriors in a commitment to protect and serve his country. A proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, Larry devoted much of his life to preserving and sharing Chickasaw culture. He danced with the Chickasaw Dance Troupe for many years and brought dedication and skill to the traditional arts he loved. Larry enjoyed woodworking and taught himself the craft of making bows and arrows. He became especially known for making stickball sticks over many years, a meaningful contribution to a tradition he deeply cherished. Throughout his years working for the Chickasaw Nation in various departments, Larry found special joy in his role within Cultural Resources at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, where he served as a Cultural Demonstrator. There, he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with others, especially through demonstrations of stickball and Stomp Dancing, helping keep important traditions vibrant for future generations.

Preceding him in death are his parent, Jack and Elsie (Keel) Seawright; wife, Kathleen Davis Seawright; brother-in-law, Donald Price; sister-in-law, Anita Seawright.

Survivors include his sons, Lance Seawright and wife Britt of Tacoma, WA, Logan Seawright and wife Courtney of Wilson; daughter, Faithlyn Seawright of Ada; grandchildren, Cassidy, Cathryn, Liam, Rex, Ryder, and Madalin; siblings, Jackie Price of Ravia, Ethel "Sue" Price and Kelly of Silo, Wilson Seawright of Ardmore, Lela Mechtly and Jack of San Angelo, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Lance Seawright, Logan Seawright, Payte Summers, Clovis Hamilton, Ric Greenwood, and Jason Eyachabbe.

Honorary bearers are Rex Seawright, Ryder Seawright, Liam Seawright, and John DeFoor;

Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M., Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff from Ideal Home Health in Healdton for all their support over the last couple of years, Cross Timbers Hospice, and a special friend, Stacey Goodson for her love and support and unforgettable bus rides to and from dialysis, along with the drivers from Chickasaw Nation Transportation.
