Lone Grove

Funeral Services for Elva Louise (Davis) Taliaferro, 94 are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Lone Grove with Rev. Bill Black officiating.  Interment will follow at Taliaferro Rest Family Cemetery.  Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Louise made her grand entrance into this world on October 5, 1931, in Lone Grove, Oklahoma, born to Tommy Davis and Alice Hacker Davis. On June 26, 2026, she made her triumphant arrival into Heaven, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, music, faith, and unforgettable memories.

Louise graduated from Lone Grove High School in 1950, where she formed lifelong friendships, she cherished deeply. She was especially proud to have graduated fourth in her class. With a deep appreciation for her heritage and musical roots, she and her aunt, Maxine Hacker Gray, formed a singing duo known as Max & Lou, with Louise playing guitar — a gift she carried throughout her life.

On April 9, 1959, she married the love of her life, W.A. “Dub” Taliaferro. Together, Louise and Dub built a life rooted in hard work and community. They owned and operated a grocery store in Dillard, Oklahoma, until 1967, before opening a furniture store in Lone Grove, which they proudly ran until retiring in 1986. Louise was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her throughout her life. She dearly loved her First Baptist Church and her church family, where she faithfully served as Sunday School secretary for many years. Her quiet strength, servant’s heart, and unwavering belief were evident to everyone who knew her. Louise’s creativity and zest for life knew no bounds. She loved painting, sewing, and especially playing her guitar — passions that reflected her vibrant spirit. She was also an avid bowler who played in leagues and was known for being exceptionally good at the game. Some of her happiest memories were made camping at Lake Texoma alongside her beloved husband, Dub, enjoying the simple moments that meant the most. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her daughter and grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “Meme.” Music filled her home and her heart. She attended countless country music concerts and festivals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Alice Davis; her beloved husband, W.A. “Dub” Taliaferro; and her brother, Samuel Davis, step Granddaughter Libby Roberts.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her devoted daughter, Wenona “Nonie” Taliaferro; stepdaughters Taujuanna Roberts and husband Larry, and Donna Flores and husband Joe; beloved grandchildren Tommy Spradling and wife Beckie, Lindsey Forsythe and husband E.J.; great-grandchildren Kamryn Louise Eubanks, Kenslie Rae Spradling, W.A. Bray Forsythe, and Ava Dawn Forsythe; her nephew, Mickey Davis and wife Brenda; her niece, Shandi Williams and husband Jay; 20 step grand and great grandchildren; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Pallbearers: Tommy Spradling, Mickey Davis, E.J. Forsythe, Bray Forsythe, Eric Taliaferro, Jay Williams, and Scott Davis.  Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Taliaferro, Louis Norton, Zach Davis, John Taliaferro, Brent Martin, Brandon Martin, Brian Davis, and Lewis Taliaferro.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Louise was deeply loved, and it is never easy to say goodbye to someone who gave us so much to remember. When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Her light, her laughter, her love, and her faith will live on in all who knew her.
