Mary Jo Atnip

A gathering of friends and family to honor the life of Mary "Jo" Joetta (Wales) Atnip, 76, of Healdton, will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.

Jo, as she was affectionately known, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 12, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to her devoted parents Melton O. Wales and Geneva Estelle (Scribner) Wales, she married Roger Dale Atnip on July 11, 1986.

A proud graduate of Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas, class of 1968, Jo found joy in nurturing her garden and cherished spending time with family and friends while studying God's word. She took great pleasure in cooking for others and treasured her family time. Adventures with her best friend, Kay Watson, included traveling and visiting wineries, creating memories she held dear. Jo dedicated her career as an office manager for oilfield companies, including Chaparral, Calumet, and Exxon.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger Atnip, who passed on November 9, 2018; and her brother, Ray Wales.

Jo is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Atnip; grandson, Sean Atnip and his fiancée' Lindsey; nieces, Aleasha Shelnutt (Lee) and Krystal Marazzi (Wayne); nephews, James, Jayson, Jesse Shelnutt, Jace Wales, and Kelton Marazzi; bonus grandson, Cody Conway; and her best friend, Kay Watson, along with numerous family and friends.

Services are provided under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home and Crematory.
