Mary Louise Champ

Graveside services for Mary Louise Champ, aged 85, of Lone Grove, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Bomar Point Cemetery in Wilson. Pastor Ellen Abshire will officiate.

Mary was born on March 8, 1941, in San Jose, California, to Albert Cecil Jordan and Mary Bonnie Jordan. She passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Growing up in San Jose, Mary married Leo Taylor on November 3, 1958, in Wickenburg, Arizona. In 1965, they moved to Petersburg, Oklahoma. Mary was a devoted mother to her daughters, Cathy and Joy, and was celebrated for her independence and grace. Her talents included sewing, creating stuffed animals, gardening, and cooking. She was proud of her professional music career and Cherokee heritage. Family members fondly recall her distinctive style, especially her fashionable sunglasses.

In later years, Mary worked alongside her daughter Cathy at C&M’s Press Shop in Wilson, where she met Harold Champ, whom she married on August 6, 1998.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Bonnie June Hudgins and Edith Taylor, and her niece Mary Hunt. Mary is survived by her daughters, Cathy Segroves and Joy Pugh, as well as her grandchildren Ty Segroves (wife Elena), Adam Segroves, Albert Austin (wife Tara), and Aaron Austin. Her great-grandchildren are Eva Segroves, Dakota Pugh, Leo Austin, and Evelyn Austin.

Pallbearers will include Adam Segroves, Ty Segroves, Leo Austin, Aaron Austin, Dakota Pugh, and Shelby Adams. Honorary bearers are Richard Segroves and Albert Austin.
