“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”Proverbs 31:28. On April 28th, 2026, our wonderful and blessed mother, wife, sister, nana, auntie, friend…Mary Jo Jones quietly left this earth in the peace of her own home. All who knew Mary Jo know what an amazing woman she truly was! Mary Jo lived a life grounded in Christ and was a true example of what it meant to be Christlike. She devoted her life to being the hands and feet of Jesus, and she loved GOD! Mary Jo was a licensed, ordained Minister who loved to share the good news in the Father’s house. However, the majority of her ministry was shared with those around her, bringing her children up in the Word, sharing an encouraging word with her daughter-in-law’s, grandchildren, siblings and nieces and nephews…. whether it was teaching the youth at bible study, whom she loved and adored, a gathering of family and friends, a random stranger, or the medical staff during one of the countless times throughout the past 30 years she endured and prevailed through her health challenges. She baffled the doctors as they could not explain, other than a miracle, that she lived as long as she did. She knew where her help came from! “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalms 121:1-2. Mom had an enlarged heart, which she would say was because she had a lot of love to give! Mary Jo was an absolutely awesome woman and an angel who loved among us!

Born on November 30th ,1953, to Edson Lee Montgomery and Patricia Joyce (Rose) Montgomery. Mary Jo was the oldest of 6 children. Brother Scott Montgomery and sister Marta Montgomery, who both live in California, and sister Cherri Montgomery and brothers William and John Montgomery, who preceded her in death.

Mary Jo and Jay Jones married on June 1st, 2007. The love they shared for each other was a special one. Jay, prior to meeting Mary Jo, had put a fleece before the Lord as he had been wanting a wife. The Lord told Jay, “Your eyes!” Jay was bumfuzzled as he said no one had ever mentioned anything about his eyes. Sometime later, after meeting Mary Jo at church, she mentioned something to him about his eyes, and Jay knew she was the one! Jay and Mary Jo shared a lot of great times together, through good times and bad. The love they shared for each other was a strong love. Jay was always by her side through all of her health issues, and Mary Jo made it her mission to care for her husband. Rooted in Christ, together they served the Lord!

Carrying on Mary Jo’s legacy are her four sons: Matthew Martinez and wife Paticia Martinez of Ardmore, OK, Joshua Martinez and wife Cheryl Martinez of Wilson, OK, Jason Acosta and wife Alyssa Acosta of Yukon, OK, and Jacob Acosta and wife Allison Acosta of Piedmont, OK. Grandchildren: Jessica, Breanna, Jesse, Noah, Talia, Madison, Josiah, Jaren, and Holly. Great Grandchildren: Bracie, Brielle, Bryson. Along with many nieces and nephews and extended family.

To all who loved Mary Jo and called her a friend, our family is beyond grateful for the love you extended towards her! May the Creator bless you richly! Rejoice for Mary Jo as she is in no more pain, and in the presence of the LORD! 2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
