Myrtle Louise (Alford) Butler

Apr 3, 1953 — Jul 4, 2026

Memorial services for Myrtle Louise (Alford) Butler, 73, of Wilson, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Ardmore with Rev. Jody Hamm officiating. Memorial services are under the direction of the family and their church family.

Myrtle was born April 3, 1953, to the late Mr. Tom Lee Alford and Mrs. Esther Nancy (Harrell) Alford. She departed this life Saturday, July 4, 2026, at her home in Wilson.

Raised in Ardmore, where she spent her formative years, Myrtle attended local schools and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1971. Even in her youth, she exemplified a spirit of diligence and service, setting the course for a lifetime dedicated to uplifting others. Myrtle’s pursuit of healing began early; she was among the pioneering students of the Nursing Program at Murray State College, graduating as part of its second-ever class in 1974. Her commitment to caring for others shaped everything she touched. On April 27, 1975, Myrtle married Everett Autrey Butler Sr., and together they built a life defined by partnership and mutual support. Their entrepreneurial spirit led them to start Butler’s TV and CB Repair of Ardmore, which they owned and operated from 1976 to 1988. Through every challenge and triumph, Myrtle’s unwavering faith and sense of community never faltered. Following their time as business owners, Myrtle returned to her first love—nursing. She devoted herself to helping others, first at the hospital, and then in home health care, bringing comfort and expertise to all her patients. Myrtle’s journey of service did not end there. Ever the lifelong learner, she returned to school in 2001. With determination, she earned her master’s degree in counseling from East Central University in 2005, embodying her belief that it is never too late to grow, learn, and help others heal. Myrtle faced heartbreak when her beloved husband Everett preceded her in death on May 12, 2003. Yet, she continued forward, ever resilient and hopeful, always seeking new ways to contribute meaningfully. Myrtle’s creativity and commitment to nurturing young hearts found expression in her published children’s book, “The Runaway Prince.” Her love for her church was profound and enduring—she was a proud and active member of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church of Ardmore.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Everett Autry Butler, Sr.; daughter, Esther Daphine “Eedee” Butler; nephew, Byron Bridgeman; sisters, Helen and Mary; nephews, Byron, Jason, Jeremy; brothers in law, Danny Butler and Don Bridgeman.

Survivors include her son, Everett Autry Butler, Jr. and wife Laura of the home; grandsons, Christopher Anderson and Lucas Butler; numerous other family, her church family, and many friends.

Honorary bearers are the men of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church, Kody Adams, Brandon Adams, Logan Adams, Chris Anderson, Lucus Butler, and Nathan Russo.
