Raymond "Lavon" Smith, aged 87, will be honored at a funeral service on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling, officiated by Rev. Stephen Carroll. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Lavon was raised north of Ringling, where he attended Mountain Home School and graduated in 1956. He married Norma Ruth Hall on May 31, 1958, at the Ardmore Court House, and they began their life together in Ringling. Lavon worked at Deep Rock Station before owning his own business and later co-owning Ardmore Pump and Supply until its sale to Mack Energy. The couple eventually settled in Ardmore, retiring in the early 2000s. Lavon was fond of fishing with his father-in-law and spent many cherished moments at the lake. He also enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers—Dale, Earl, LeRoy, and Harold—and two sisters, Irma Richardson and Carolyn Welch.
Lavon leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Norma; sons, Kevin Smith and his wife Lisa of Wills Point, TX, and Ricky Smith of Lone Grove; granddaughter, Lacie Irish and her husband Ben of Rockwall, TX; as well as three great-grandchildren, Preslie, Kymber, and Emery. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Debbie Price and her husband Billy, and Connie Slimp and her husband Chuck; brother-in-law, Bobby Welch, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM before the service. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.alexandergrayfh.com.
