Ratliff City - Richard Micheal Butler, 75, of Pruitt City, passed away on August 22, 2026, in Duncan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Ratliff City First Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Johnston and Clyde Quick officiating. Interment will follow at Ratliff City cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City. 

Born on August 21, 1951, in Duncan to Clarence "Pal" Butler and JoAnn (Briscoe) Butler, Richard spent his early years in Pruitt City and graduated from Fox High School in 1969.After serving in the United States Navy and receiving an honorable discharge, Richard married Vickie Jean Downey in 1972, with whom he had a daughter, Jackie Lea. He later married Kay Fletcher in 1992 and they had a son, Russell Wade.

Richard dedicated his career to the oilfield industry and owned D&R Construction, retiring in 2009. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, like coffee sessions at Marty's with his brother Robert.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ronnie, Robert, and Randy. 

He is survived by his wife Kay; daughter Jackie Butler of Edmond; son Russell Butler of Pruitt City; granddaughter Birdie Brewer; brother Roger Butler and his wife Sissy; sisters-in-law Bea Butler and Radonna (Bolles) Gregg; brother-in-law Ladon Fletcher; special cousin Sherian "Grandma" Blankenship; and many other family members.

Casket bearers include Cuco Murillo, Kenny Claxton, Dalton Brown, Jade Thompson, Odell Williams, and Carey Dale Tivis.

Honorary bearers are Nub Sullivan, Darlene Clubb, Pinkey Hurley, Glenn Hurst, Wallace Hooks, Celano Jones, and Robert Thornton.

Family visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
