Funeral Service for Mr. Richard Irving Wright, 83 are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Ratliff City Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow to New Velma Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
Richard passed away on June 2, 2026, surrounded by family. He leaves behind a lifetime of hard work, laughter, and love for his family. He was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma to H.E. "Bud" Wright and Ora (Eslick) Wright, he was raised in Cox City, Oklahoma. On October 14, 1963, Richard married the love of his life, Nancy Jannette Shahan Wright, in Marlow, Oklahoma. Together they built a strong marriage and a beautiful family, raising three sons. Richard took immense pride in his family. He was a devoted husband, an amazing father to his sons and a loving grandfather (Papaw) to his grandchildren.
His career began as a welder, spending most of his working years in the oilfield business. He owned Wright Brothers Machine and Ratliff City Trucking and was well known for his tireless work ethic. He believed in doing things the right way, treating people fairly, and earning respect through honesty and hard work.
Richard leaves behind a legacy that will live on through the people who loved him. Everyone who knew him has a story about him: a memory, a laugh, a lesson, or a moment that makes them smile. He will be thoroughly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jannette; his sons, Richie Wright and wife Debbie, Stacey Wright, and Jesse Wright and wife Peggy; his brothers, Leon Wright and wife Shirley, and Wayne Wright and wife Ollie; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild expected in September.
Pallbearers will be Chris Tivis, Wayne Sevier, Jeff Warner, Billy Whitner, Jessie Figaroa, and Jay Strikland. Honorary bearers will be Nub Sullivan, Bobby McCown, Randall Gill, Dee Gamble, and Mike Green.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City. Memories may be shared online at www.alexandergrayfh.com.
