Roy Allen “Pup” Shelton, 76, of Healdton, was born September 2, 1947, at Ardmore, to the late Mr. Roy Shelton and Mrs. Ellen Lucindy (Beaird) Shelton. He departed this life May 27, 2024, at his home in Healdton.
Pup was raised in Graham, where he attended school and graduated from Graham High School. He went on to work in the oilfield with his father, working in many areas including as a truck driver. Pup married the love of his life, the former Miss Retha Sue “Susie” Meadows, on December 27, 1971, at Susie’s grandmothers’ home in Velma. The couple began their married life in Graham and later made their home in Healdton. Pup went on to further his education at Ada to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. He began his nursing career under his wife, Susie, who is a Registered Nurse, at the Healdton Nursing Home. Pup was later employed for the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore. He enjoyed working in the yard and was very outgoing, social, and made friends everywhere he went. Pup and Susie have been married for 52 wonderful years.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters, Theola Abrams and Sheila Shelton; brothers-in-law, Christopher Puckett, Waylon Loring, and Ron Towler.
Survivors include his wife, Susie of the home; sisters, Bertie Puckett of Oil City, Mary Loring of Velma, and Tammy Towler of Graham; very special friends that are like family, Matthew and Lacey Cox of Wilson and their two children Dakota and Kinlee.
