Services for Janie Pearson, 81, of Healdton, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Milo Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating and Josh Adams assisting. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton with James Nix officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
Tommie Jane “Janie” Pearson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025. Born December 12, 1943, to Elle Mae and John Thomas Holcomb, Janie’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, and unconditional love.
Janie grew up in Tussy Oklahoma, attending school at Pernell, Oklahoma through her junior year, ultimately moving and graduating from Healdton High School 1962. She married Jim Porterfield on November 24, 1962, and together they gave life to two daughters, Kari Michelle & Kelly Renee, Together they built a loving home and life until Jim’s passing in 2005. A few years later, Janie found love again and married Perry Pearson on October 4, 2008. The life they shared, although short, was full of love, joy, laughter, and deep companionship. This union brought two established families together as one.
Janie is survived by her devoted husband, Perry Pearson of the home, and by the family she cherished with all her heart: Children: Kari Ward and husband Mark of Watonga, OK; Kelly Choate and husband JC of Wilson, OK; Mike Pearson and wife Dana of Waco, TX; and Bo Pearson and wife Bonnie of Shawnee, OK. Grandchildren: James Nix and wife Megan, Bobby Nix and wife Karli, John Nix and wife Kamra, Josh Adams and wife Brandie, Carly Ford and husband Steven, Brittny McNeill and fiancé Brayden, Christopher Choate and wife Rilee, Andrew Ward, Matthew Choate and wife Aspen, Martha Choate and fiancé Cameron, Ashley Allen, Haley Grmela and husband Eddie, Michaela Kaddatz and husband Carson, Annie Pearson, and Cody Pearson and wife Brook. Great-grandchildren: 28 in total, each one a cherished piece of her lasting legacy.
She is also survived by her sister Bettye Carlton of Ada, OK; brother-in-law John Taylor of Hennessy Ok, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Anita Pearson of Tuttle, OK; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ray and Marsha Pearson of Wilson, OK; sister-in-law Lavern Porterfield of Wilson, OK; sister-in-law Peggy Porterfield of Healdton, OK; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elle Mae and John Holcomb; her first husband, Jim Porterfield; her sister, Martha Taylor; her niece, Linda Carlton, Great nephew Jordan Carlton; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard, Roy, Bobby, Roger, and Walter Porterfield; Robert and Cecil Pearson; Pat, Wanda, and Linda (H.L.) Mitchell.
Affectionately known as “Ninny,” to so many, Janie was so much more than a grandmother, she was a safe place, a warm hug, and an endless source of encouragement not just to her own family, but to countless friends and extended loved ones. All who knew her, even those who weren’t family by blood, called her “Ninny,” because that’s exactly how she treated them, with the same deep love, pride, and kindness. Her home was always open, her arms always outstretched, and her heart always full.
Janie’s life was a living example of grace, strength, and humility. She lived with quiet faith, selfless love, and a dedication to making sure everyone around her felt seen, valued, and cared for. Her presence was a gift, and her legacy will echo through the generations she leaves behind.
Pallbearers will be James Nix, Bobby Nix, Cody Pearson, Josh Adams, John Nix, Christopher Choate, Andrew Ward, and Matthew Choate.
Honorary bearers are Tom Worsham, Anthony Price, and Robert Carlton.
Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.
