Virginia Marie Klinkerman, of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the comfort of her daughter’s home surrounded and cared for by her loved ones.
Born May 17, 1933, in Electra, Texas, to Homer H. Haynes and Marie E. (Myers) Pruden, she was the oldest child, followed by two sisters and a brother. She married Marvin George Klinkerman, the love of her life, on March 12, 1950, and had two daughters, Pamela Marie Cox, and Beverly Diann Bohannon.
Virginia was a dedicated mother, wife, and grandma. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, seamstress and was tickled to share her skills and delicious recipes with her family. One of her daughter’s favorite memories was sitting at the feet of their mother as she custom made their clothing. Meals and holiday gatherings were always a memorable treat. Virginia had a wonderful eye for design and style and took pride in creating a beautiful welcoming home for all to gather and enjoy. As a rancher’s wife she wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty helping to run a farm and ranch alongside her husband. When her children were grown, she took pleasure in hobbies such as oil painting, stained glass, interior decorating, refurbishing furniture, playing bridge, and traveling. A couple of her favorite trips were with her sister, Doris, on a Bridge Club Cruise to the Caribbeans and a family trip to Europe to visit and explore with her granddaughter Codye and family.
She loved learning and expanding her ever growing knowledge by researching online and even taking college classes at Midwestern State University from her thirties through her fifties, where she got her associate degree in political science, and was only six hours short of a bachelors in business. Sharp as a tack, she enjoyed crunching numbers and was an excellent bookkeeper.
Virginia was a strong independent woman who was sweet as apple pie but also gutsy enough to stand up for what she believed, running for County Commissioner of Wichita County, Iowa Park Precinct 3 with the slogan “The Best man for the job, is a WOMAN”.
She was a member of Clara Trinity Lutheran Church, Texas Democratic Women of the Wichita Area, Iowa Park Bridge Club and member of the Madill Art Club and Gallery.
Above all else Virginia loved spending time with her ever-growing family, for which she proudly proclaimed her love. She was a devoted caregiver, providing comfort and support and was always present in our times of need. Her passion and prized achievement were the role she played as a mom and grandma. Virginia was the epitome and definition of a Matriarch and will be missed greatly. We are so proud of who she was, and how her love was pure and unconditional for us all. She loved greatly and was loved greatly. We pray we can continue to keep her love light ever burning to honor her memory.
