Mrs. Wilda June (Campbell) Gentry, age 93, of Ardmore, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026. Graveside service will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Wilda was born March 8, 1933, in Ardmore, to the late Leslie Irving Campbell and Winnie Eileen (McCarston) Campbell. Wilda was raised in Ardmore, where she attended Ardmore public schools and graduated with the class of 1951. She devoted much of her life to being a homemaker, lovingly raising her two daughters. Later, she pursued further education at the Vo Tech Center in Ardmore, completing a bookkeeping course. Wilda worked as a bookkeeper at Ida’s Dress Shop and gained valuable experience at Uniroyal, where she operated a wire breaker machine in tire building. She also contributed her skills at Southern Vending and served as a cashier at various places, including CVS Pharmacy. Wilda had a passion for staying active and enjoyed refurbishing furniture. Always ready for an adventure, she embraced life with enthusiasm and was known for her willingness to go wherever the day took her. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and remained very active until the age of 90. Whether exploring locally or taking a bus to new destinations, Wilda loved being on the move. Those who knew her will fondly remember Wilda for her spirited nature, her spunky and resilient way of life, and her unique charm. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Campbell and Winnie Campbell; sister, Nell Norwood; two brothers, Nick Campbell and Sonny Campbell; Nephew, Marty Campbell; great nephew, Win Patton; nephew-in-law, Windell Patton.
Wilda is survived by her daughters, Vickie Burden and husband John of Orr, OK, Catherine John of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchild, DeAnna Estell; great grandchildren, Summer Estell and Bahar Alirezaei; nieces, Pamela Patton and Treva Campbell; nephew, Randy Campbell; numerous other extended family and friends.
