Services for Winona Sue “Susie” (Roberts) Garnand, 86, of Healdton, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery.
Susie was born June 17, 1940, in Healdton, to the late Mr. Charles “Chock” Roberts and Mrs. Winona “June” (Chase) Roberts. She departed this life August 28, 2026, at her home in Healdton.
Known to many as Susie, she married Mr. Roy Carroll Garnand on August 20, 1954. Together they built a life shaped by love, commitment, and adventure as they traveled and lived in many states during Roy’s service in the United States Air Force. Along the way, they were blessed with four children and created a family life filled with lasting memories. After Roy’s retirement in 1990, Susie and Roy made their home in San Antonio, Texas. They later moved to Canyon Lake, Texas, and in 2010 made their way back home to Healdton. Susie was proud to be of the Chickasaw Nation and was a member of the Eastern Star, where she served as head Matriarch. She was a woman of remarkable determination. In 1974, she completed her high school education, resolved to finish before any of her children, and graduated at the top of her class. She continued her studies at IBM School, where she again graduated at the top of her class. Her commitment to learning reflected the strength, discipline, and example she set for her family. Her life was enriched by service and simple joys. Susie served as a den mother for the local Boy Scouts of America, giving her time and care to young people in her community. She loved going to the lake with her children and friends, where they enjoyed water skiing and swimming together. She also treasured the laughter and companionship shared during games of Pinochle with friends. Above all else, Susie cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her heart and the greatest blessing of her life. Those who knew Susie will remember her as a loving and steadfast presence, a woman whose grace and strength touched generations. She was an angel long before she earned her wings.
Her family extends heartfelt thanks to Cross Timbers Hospice for the exceptional care they provided, especially Jimmie, Leta, Rachael, and Sarah.
